Schumann Quartett: Their youthful verve, audible enthusiasm and breathtaking technical mastery creates a powerful musical experience altogether inspiring. They visit AMF from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
2nd Annual Crystal Coast Oyster Festival
Come out on this holiday weekend for the 2nd Annual Crystal Coast Oyster Festival provided by Pints for a Purpose, Inc.! This fundraiser festival will benefit the NC Shellfish Growers Association, as well as a commercial fishing organization. The mission is to make the Festival a family-friendly, fun event that raises awareness for Wild Caught, as well as, farmed oysters. There will be live music, local vendors with arts, crafts, jewelry and more. Oyster farmers will talk about the preparation, selling and serving of oysters.
The festival will take place at the Big Rock "Jib" Landing site in downtown Morehead City.

The Return of Rodney Kemp Presents History with Lunch Voila

Local historian Rodney Kemp returns with his popular lunch-time history program at the History Museum of Carteret County. This well-received mainstay includes local history and Rodney’s down-home, personal observations along with audience participation and comments. Included in this run of events are author interviews and some of Rodney’s own interpretive topics.
Admission for each presentation with lunch is $15 per person or $13 for society members. Lunch is served 11:30.
The program only admission is $8.50 and $5.50 for society members.
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

An eclectic group of sixth-graders arrives at the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, each eager to win for very different reasons. In hilarious, touching, and catchy songs, each speller reveals his/her hopes, struggles, and passions as they make their way through the competition. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee causes audiences to fall in love, both with the show itself and its “perspicacious,” “jocular,” and “effervescent” spellers.

Down East Folk Arts Society Concert - Ruth Wyand

Ruth Wyand raises the bar in the “guitarist with foot drums” genre with her intricate picking style augmented by her alternating thumb bass, bottleneck slide, multiple foot drums and raw blues vocals. She is an award winning fingerpicker, slide player, songwriter and music historian from Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Now, she performs at festivals, universities and clubs across the US, UK, Europe, Kuwait and New Zealand.
Her playing and writing echoes the tones of Memphis Minnie, Billie Holiday Doc Watson and Howard Dog Taylor. If you enjoy a little history with your music come on out to enjoy a night with Ruth Wyand!
